Our Mission
Geared Power BioTech is on a mission to prevent the spread of respiratory infections at the source to benefit public health – especially in healthcare facilities – using our patented application of germicidal UVC to inactivate pathogens in real-time from the exhaled breath of infected individuals, preventing life-threatening diseases (e.g. COVID-19, Pneumonia, TB, Measles, etc.) and avoiding the costly impact to healthcare systems worldwide.
Our Product – BioGuard UVC™ Medical UV Mask
Our flagship product, BioGuard UVC™ is pending FDA clearance as a class II, De Novo medical device, and has garnered U.S. Congressional support encouraging the DoD and BARDA to pursue adoption. It is a wearable ultraviolet pathogen-inactivation platform that reduces hospital acquired respiratory infections (HAIs) – a $20B problem in the U.S. Unlike filtered masks that have limited effectiveness and concentrate pathogens that are then re-inhaled, our device is filter-less, does not restrict the ability to breathe, is over 100 times more effective by inactivating pathogens, is pathogen agnostic, and is immediately deployable.

Company History
Geared Power BioTech, Inc. is a spinoff from Geared Power, LLC which was formed in 2018. In 2020, during the pandemic, the Board of Directors approved a pivot to help solve the shortage of PPE. This ultimately led to the development of BioGuard UVC™ – our flagship medical UV mask product. Founded by Gary Kellstrom, Jr. after a 17 year career at Becton Dickinson. Based in Wayne, New Jersey.
